Trinity Hymnal

At Trinity we use The Trinity Hymnal. No, it is not our own personal hymnal. It is a hymnal produced jointly by our denomination (PCA) and a sister denomination (OPC).

The Trinity Psalter

As a companion to the Hymnal, we also have The Trinity Psalter.  The Psalter (i.e., the Book of Psalms set to music) is the hymnbook of the Bible and has always been used in Christian worship.

In addition to the Trinity Hymnal and Psalter we sing a few additional hymns and songs, and we are always adding to this database new songs that are scripturally sound, musically excellent, and singable.

The RUF Hymnbook

If you’re a guitar player, Reformed University Fellowship has put together an online hymnal containing both traditional and new arrangements of many beloved hymns. A great resource for sing along worship for your family, small group or your Sunday School.

The Book of Common Worship

During worship we will often recite together one of the historical creeds of the universal Christian Church.  These ecumenical creeds have been treasured by Christians for many centuries. Listed below are two creeds used most often: The Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed.

The Apostle’s Creed – Second Century A.D.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell;
the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven,
and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost;
the holy catholic church;
the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body;
and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Nicene Creed – 381 A.D.

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of Heaven and earth;
and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten of His Father before all worlds:
God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God,
begotten, not made; being of one substance with the Father,
by Whom all things were made:
Who for us men and for our salvation came down from Heaven,
and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary,
and was made man;
and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate.
He suffered and was buried;
and the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures,
and ascended into Heaven,
and sits on the right hand of the Father.
And He shall come again with glory
to judge both the living and the dead
Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit,
The Lord, and Giver of Life,
Who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
Who with the Father and the Son
together is worshipped and glorified;
Who spoke by the prophets.

And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
And I look for the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

Confession of Faith and Catechisms

The Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms are our doctrinal standards.  These documents are not infallible; however, we believe that these documents are faithful expressions of God’s word. Therefore, while our members are not required to subscribe to the Confession and Catechisms, they guide and shape our teaching and are sometime used in our worship services.
