“I will
praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart. I will
tell of all Your marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praises
to Your name, O Most High”
Psalm 9:1-2

“The Lord your God is in your midst; the Mighty One will
save; He will rejoice over you with gladness.
He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you
with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
As privileged servants
under a sacred trust and a divine call, our mission is a
corporate ministry that uses music to advance the Kingdom of
God in this place, to beautify and dignify the worship of
God in His sanctuary, and to be a unifying force in the
whole life of Trinity Presbyterian Church. We are committed
to redeeming the time in this place weekly “lost in wonder,
love and praise.”
Vision of the Music Ministry
Believing we are called to give of our best to the Master,
it naturally follows that excellence in musicianship is
essential. We seek to teach how music can be used in the
best possible way in congregational worship. Thus we hold
rehearsals in separate choirs serving and training people of
all ages. We seek to become a singing congregation making
music more actively a part of worship.
Chancel Choir
The
Chancel Choir consists of adults of diverse abilities, gifts
and ages, committed to high standards of musicianship
in worship. The Chancel choir leads the congregation in worship
services through the singing of psalms, hymns, responses, and anthems. The
Choir is open to believers who are called to serve in
this way and willing to commit the necessary time,
effort, and energy to this ministry. Chancel Choir rehearsal is held each Wednesday
evening in the Chancel Choir Room. Rehearsals on Sunday mornings begin thirty minutes prior to
each worship service.
Youth and Children's
Choirs Trinity has three children’s choirs as
well as a Youth Choir that serve through
leading worship services and other activities of
the church. These choirs train our children,
from age four through 12th grade, in music theory, hymn
memorization, psalm singing, and preparation of
various choral anthems for use in corporate
worship. Through these various elements,
Trinity aims to equip future generations of worshippers
and worship leaders to skillfully participate and lead
in the worship of Almighty
God.
Youth Choir
The Youth
Choir is a
newly formed group of
junior and senior high students that meets on Sunday afternoons in
the Chancel Choir Room. The music is selected to challenge those involved.
The group sings regularly in evening worship services and travels
together on a summer tour.
Covenant Choir
The oldest of three
children’s choirs, the Covenant choir is made up
of 4th through 6th grade students. Rehearsals
are held each Wednesday evening and are
directed by our Director of Music, Carter Reed, with
assistance from volunteer parents and youth choir
members. Seraphim
Singers
The Seraphim
Singers is a choir of 1st through 3rd grade
students who rehearse during Wednesday evening activities at the church
and are directed by Lindsey Reed with
assistance from volunteer parents.
Cherub Choir
The
youngest of the children’s choirs, the Cherub Choir, is
made up of
kindergarteners and
four year
olds. They spend their time on Wednesday nights singing, learning
about music through the Musikgarten curriculum and other fun activities.
Jennifer Bricken and Carey Albritton lead this group with
assistance from volunteer parents.
The Sanctuary Organ
Consisting of 2,764 pipes, 43 stops, and 51 ranks of pipes,
the instrument was built by the Casavant Fereres Company of
Quebec, Canada, and is one of the largest installations in
central Alabama. The organ was installed in 1985. A
zymbalstern was added in 1998. The tonal design was planned
for use in all aspects of congregational worship as well as
for recitals and special vesper services.
