Ministry
of Missions
"The Other Side of the
Street... and The Other Side of the
World"
This
Missions Vision at Trinity aptly describes our focus for
home and world missions.
Community
Ministries networks and coordinates our neighborhood and
urban ministries as described by "The Other Side of
the Street." God didn't plant us in this
neighborhood for more than 100 years to isolate
ourselves or ignore it. We want to be a church that
makes a difference in our community by bringing the
gospel in word and deed to attack personal and systemic
problems with a concerted effort of various ministries.
By marshalling the resources of our local ministries,
city agencies and membership we can more effectively
bring people to Christ and transform the community. Our
goal is a holistic ministry network that addresses all
the needs of an individual. For example, we seek to
facilitate ministries working together to provide
evangelism through Good News Clubs, educational
opportunities for underprivileged children, and
unemployed or underemployed adults, discipleship and
mentoring through FCA, Young Life or Campus Outreach,
safe and affordable housing through Habitat for Humanity
or Rebuilding Together and cross-cultural worship
through outreach and church planting. "Ministry Flows
Through Relationships" and we want those relationships
to cover the spectrum of need like Surround Sound fills
a room with music.... The Other Side of
the Street is not so scary when you have learned to love
people as Christ described the neighbor in the story of
the Good Samaritan.
"The Other Side of
the World
" denotes
our focus on reaching other people groups. Trinity is at the cutting
edge of Kingdom work. God didn't open
doors to the largest populations on earth or place us
in the path that leads to a
back door opening to the world for nothing.
The
Other Side of the World is not so distant anymore.
The Ministry of Missions has set a course which the
church can visualize, embrace, and participate. Balanced
budget allocations reflect this strategy yet provide
consistency and support for other existing mission
endeavors.
The Ministry of Missions' guide for allocating
resources is based on a strategic plan developed at the
2003 Mission Retreat. Our strategic tasks are outlined
in the acrostic TASX.
