Memory Work
Memorywork in the Children's Ministry is divided into two categories: Sunday School Memorywork and Catechism Memorywork.
Sunday School Memorywork consists of age appropriate Bible verses, songs, Bible knowledge and catechism questions. Children who successfully recite their Sunday School Memorywork to their teacher by the assigned date will receive a special award on Promotion Sunday. Catechism Memorywork consists of teaching children the entire Children's Catechism on Sunday evenings during the worship service. Our Children's Catechism is an abbreviated version of the Westminster Shorter Catechism. Grades 1-3 learn sections of the Catechism while the goal for fourth graders is to recite all 145 answers in one sitting. Children who recite their grade level answers receive a special award on Promotion Sunday. Children who recite all 145 answers in one sitting are rewarded with a special trip with the Children' Ministry and have their names engraved on plaque prominently displayed outside of The John M. Ward Session Room. For a copy of the Catechism Memorywork, click here.
